Heroes lore dota 2
Regarding the lore, i honestly think the vagueness and gaps in lore in the dota universe are interesting and compelling if not deliberate. Not to mention, there are other stand alone 3rd person RTS games out there but we don't play them because we play dota 2 all the time and dota 2 is way more fun.Įxpecting valve to develop a whole new game inside dota is a bit much when there is already a lot of demand for them to improve the experience of playing dota, which i am so far pretty happy with.
Heroes lore dota 2 mods#
i can imagine some sort of 'dojo' mods where you can train with certain heroes, combos, items and situations - like practicing brew splits or blink skewers or meepo shit - but a fully developed single player campaign with tons of lore AND effective dota 2 tutorial that prepares new players to be competent before they've even played the game. there is no way to prepare for something complex and random and iterative as 5 v 5 competitive dota beyond playing dota. I used to think this would be a cool idea or assumed it should/would happen but.Īs a tutorial it would be extremely ineffective. This is how you would do a campaign right.
Heroes lore dota 2 how to#
They could hide the fact that they are actually teaching you how to play the game with a good story and fun missions that are actually based around advanced mechanics. Almost the entire game is just one big tutorial and almost no one noticed.
Everyone I know just outright skipped the whole thing anyway. Most of it is just practice matches after that. It barely scratches the bare-bones of the controls and manages to be be really boring while doing so. The solution is to teach players with a good tutorial that's fun to play.
Obviously the solution is not to make the game easier. But it is a still a major problem keeping some other people from loving Dota like we do. No one on this subreddit ever complains about it because it doesn't affect them, they already love and appreciate the game. (and then they added that you should play it anyway) It takes a long time to fully-appreciate it. I remember when Dota was "released " people and game sites started reviewing it: Everyone loved it and recommended it but they always warned of the EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I've actually put a bit of thought into this I think a campaign mode could be a really good idea but it's primary function should be to serve as a tutorial.
